I’m so glad I’m not one of those strange vegetarians.
Though the eating of animals at times seems barbarian.
Vegetarians are sad at Thanksgiving I’m certain.
How could they not be, when their menu’s uncertain?
What in the heck is a vegetarian Tofu-rky?
I’ve read the contents and the ingredients are murky.
Wouldn’t they rather have a nice juicy breast?
The tastiest dish of Thanksgiving, how can they detest?
Maybe they could make an exception for one day.
"Give up your vegetarian ways!" we will say.
Just one tiny bite and their beliefs will be shaken.
Especially if we wrap the turkey in bacon.

I really like the last line. Not only does it rhyme great, but it's also pretty funny. I actually get hungry when I read it.
Personally, I don't think I would ever be able to give up meat. Even though there are times when I get really sick of eating it. But than there are special occasions such as Thanksgiving where the turkey is so delicious, especially when mixed with cranberry sause.
The bottom line is, it doesn't matter whether you are a vegetarian or blood thirsty meat eater. The main purpose of Thanksgiving, is to spend time with your family and be thankful. I think sometimes we forget that. We get right into our random debates or arguments with family members that we haven't seen in a while (or since last thanksgiving).
But we forget that we are suppose to enjoy this day. I know that it may take a little bit more effort to behave, especially when you are really passionate about making certain points (happens to me all the time). But sometimes we need to take a step back and consider the host and hostess and all the hard work they put into making dinner. If we look at it from the perspective, we will be a bit more curtious, and take any excessive debates outside.
If or should I say when heated arguments erupt, we may use funny thanksgiving poems to lighten the atmosphere a bit. That's my suggestion. Enjoy the turkey or tofu-rky.
