Funny Teacher Retirement Poems

The first poem on the funny teacher retirement poems page is called, "Favorite Teacher". Who was your favorite teacher of all time?

Favorite Teacher

You’ve always been my favorite teacher.
And not just because of your attractive features.
You kept each class interesting; you held my attention.
And rarely did you send me to afternoon detention.

Because of your lectures, I can pass each test.
No longer do I just choose "C" as my guess.
I’ve learned how to spell and I’ve learned lots of math.
I feel that you’ve set me upon the right path.

School won’t be the same without you next year.
On the first day of class, I may even shed a tear.
I hope that retirement fulfills all your desires.
I promise I’ll be nice to whomever the school hires.

Many teachers are very different in many ways. They often have very different teaching styles. Some talk and talk and talk, while others use powerpoints and diagrams to get their point across.

I have noticed that some teachers are simply better natural instructors. They get their point across, while maintaining interest from the students. While others are not nearly as effective and seem lost have the time.

I recall I had a teacher way back in grade 7 who taught me history. He was the only teacher who did not say a word during the lecture. He would just write the content on the blackboard and just move from one board to the next. So if you couldn't write fast, you wouldn't be able to keep up, since he kept on erasing what he wrote a few minutes ago. It was like a race.

I think the effectiveness of this type of teaching style is very limited. Because the sutdents are not engaged. There is no discussion, or explanation of why?

If I was teaching that class, I would focus less on the countless details, and more on the major themes behind certain events. We are suppose to learn lessons about life from past historical events. Not the little tiny details that accompany these events.

I hope you enjoyed visiting the funny teacher retirement poems page.
