Gym Class
Why is it that I am always picked last?
It’s not like I suck that bad in gym class.
I may never score a home run or a goal,
but my bodily functions at least I control.
If I were to be picked first this one time,
you would not be sorry, I’ll bet you a dime.
For I have been practicing my swings and my kicks.
I know I can break into your jock clique.
The game winning play is sure to be mine.
To my athletic prowess you’ll all build a shrine.
I pledge to you now, this will come to pass.
And you will regret picking me last in gym class.

The reality is that nobody ever want to be picked last in gym class. It's not the best feeling in the world. When it's down to you and that other person. In your mind you are praying that you won't be last, second last is like the holy grail at that moment. Because everyone forgets about who was picked second or third last. But nobody forgets about "Last".
But you can't take it to heart. Because everyone has their strengths and weaknesses. So instead of worrying about weaknesses people should focus on developing their strengths instead.
For example, if I am weak athletically, and if I don't enjoy it very much. Than I wouldn't spend much time trying to develop those skills. Sure a friendly game once in a while is ok. But hours and hours a day, would seem like a waste of time and effort. Instead I would focus on something I enjoy and that I'm good at.
So if I'm good at playing various musical instruments instead of sports, that's exactly where I would spend most of my time and effort. So don't ever listen to anyone that tells you that you should be working on something that you don't enjoy. It seems our society focuses more on improving weaknesses instead of growing strengths. The truth is that your strengths will take you further in life and the journey will be much more enjoyable.
The poem above is a fine example of someone not being very good at something but working hard to change that. In my opinion, this person should do what she is good at. I hope you enjoyed reading the funny school poems page.
