Kids are very good at making up excuses when they want to avoid something. They are very talented at doing this I must say. Some kids will come up with the most hilarious excuses and stories, that they will make you laugh.

Making up excuses to avoid going to school are by far the most common. Faking the fever is an all-time classic. Sometimes they will place a hot towel on their forehead for a few minutes before calling their parents to check their warm heads. Yes, there are so many tricks in the book. But frankly, most of them don't work, because parents are familiar with most of these tricks. Once in a while it may work, but I think that it's pretty rare.

Not to long ago, I read somewhere, that there is a way to create an atmoshpere where a child will feel comfortable on their first day of school. Instead of just taking children to school and forcing them to adapt instantly on their first day to the new and mysterious environment. A better method consists of preparing children mentally for the day, by showing them the environment weeks before the first day of school, and helping them visualize how much fun it will be.
